In the Heart of Europe – Hungary

When you think of Europe you’d be forgiven if Hungary wasn’t the first place that springs to mind. But this small country in the middle of the continent has so much to offer, and should not be overlooked when considering a teach abroad adventure.

As you stroll through the beautiful streets of Budapest and marvel at the stunning architecture, it’s hard not to think about the fascinating history that’s unfolded in this magical place. Easily as beautiful as Paris or London, Hungary’s capital is packed full of culture and things to do, it has so many great food options and the art scene is fantastic.

If you avoid the tourist hotspots it’s also very affordable too. Rent, bills and groceries are all well within an English teacher’s budget. That leaves more than enough to travel, and you couldn’t pick a better location as a base, Hungary is ideal if you love Europe and want to explore it.

But Hungary is not simply a wonderful place to live, it’s a great place to work too. Teaching in a state school gives you the chance to really understand the culture as you get to know your local colleagues and of course the lovely students. You’re always well supported and can develop your teaching skills in a fun and safe environment which champions innovative thinking and hard work.

The Jewel of Southeast Asia – Thailand

Thailand doesn’t need much of an introduction, it’s called the Land of Smiles for a reason. But this gorgeous country full of amazing people is far more than just a holiday destination, teaching in Thailand offers you the chance to unlock the country on a deeper level, one that those passing through simply cannot.

The best food in the world? Definitely up there. The best weather? Quite probably. The friendliest people? Clear winners. It’s very easy to fall in love with Thailand because of the incredibly delicious and cheap food, eaten under blue skies and sun, but it’s the people that make this country so special. Until you’ve experienced it for yourself, it’s hard to comprehend what a pleasure it is simply walking down the street and receiving smiles from everyone you pass.

On top of all of that, Thailand is an incredibly affordable place to live. On a teacher’s salary it’s possible to live an incredible quality of life and save for your journeys around the country, because you really don’t need to cross any borders for a real adventure. From the jaw dropping mountains of the north to the white sandy beaches of the south, it’s hard to believe how much beauty can be packed into such a small country, and it’s all at your fingertips as a teacher in the kingdom.

What also makes Thailand stand out as a great option to teach abroad is the wide variety of schools on offer. However, they all have one thing in common, energetic and charismatic students that you’ll have so much fun with. Thai schools, private or state, are all really nice places to be. You feel a warmth every morning as you’re greeted by the guards on your way in and doesn’t leave until you say goodbye at the end of the day.
