Why Choose Poznan?
Lesser known than other Polish cities such as Warsaw and Krakow, Poznan is a unique and fascinating place with so much to offer. First established as a stronghold in the 9th century and once the capital of Poland, Poznan is packed to the brim with history and culture. These days it is a forward thinking and modern place to live, despite the beautiful architecture acting as a constant reminder of the city’s past.
A similar size to Sheffield in the UK and home to around half a million people, Poznan offers everything you could possibly need within the confines of a smaller city that is most definitely walkable. Whilst walking you are likely to pass restaurants, coffee shops, and parks where you can spend warm summer evenings with new friends. The city is packed with culture and there’s something for everyone, it’s not too big or too small, the perfect place to make your new home.
During the summer months Poznan radiates with an infectious buzz, and it glows throughout winter with markets galore, especially during Christmas when the city turns into a cute winter wonderland. Amazing food, a great arts and music scene, one of the best football teams in the country, and amazing people all make Poznan a brilliant place to live. Polish people are so friendly and genuine but the locals in Poznan are especially welcoming.
So, what do you say?
Cost of Living
Poland generally has a lower cost of living than the rest of Western European, and Poznan is in fact cheaper many other parts of the country. A small apartment not far from the city centre is unlikely to cost more than £500 a month, with bills not adding much more than around £200 to that. A delicious meal and a beer at local restaurant isn’t going to cost much more than £10 and groceries are reasonable for when you want to cook at home. Public transport on those especially chilly days is very affordable to match almost everything else in the city.

Salary
As a teacher at an international school you would expect to earn a higher than average wage, with that in mind you will not be disappointed by our partner school in Poznan. They offer a monthly salary of 8,000 PLN, which is approximately £1,600 a month. This wage may not get you very far in the UK or the US but is very good in Poland, you can easily save a quarter of your salary if you spend wisely, and more if you’re careful. Living a good quality of life, travelling, and saving is all possible with the salary on offer from our fantastic partner school in Poznan.

Is Poznan Right for You?
Other than offering a fantastic opportunity to work at a top international school where you can develop your career and earn a salary that allows saving, Poznan is the perfect place for anyone who values their social life. The city is full of amazing people and things to do with them, it’s small enough for you to walk or cycle everywhere and has plenty of green spaces, meaning you are never too far from something exciting. But you may need to hop on the bus during the icy winter months!
If you thrive off the big city life then Warsaw might be a better option for you, but Poznan has everything you could possibly need whilst maintaining its charm, and a train to the capital only takes two and a half hours. If you want to explore the rest of Europe, the airport offers direct flights to cities across the continent whilst Germany and the Czech Republic are on your doorstep.
Any career focussed socialite who loves to travel from a base where they can feel right at home, somewhere that is not too expensive and has lots to do, will have a fantastic time in Poznan.

Location and Climate
Very much Polish but only around 100 miles from the German border, closer than it is to the country’s capital of Warsaw, Poznan couldn’t be better placed for anyone who wants to see Northern Europe. The city is surrounded by natural beauty, thick forests and huge lakes characterise the countryside that can be easily reached by bus or train.
And if you do want to travel but don’t feel like catching a flight from the international airport, there are a ton of awesome places to explore from your base in Poznan. Poland may not be known for its beaches but there are plenty on offer, and you can get to many of them in less than a five hours on the train. Not to mention Lodz, Wroclaw, of course Warsaw, and a bunch of other amazing cities that are only a short trip away!
The climate in Poznan is more extreme than that found in the UK, the summer is warmer with temperatures in the mid-twenties, and winter days are freezing with a high probability of snow. Spring and autumn are truly beautiful and each season has its own unique charm.
